Over winter break of my Junior year, I had the opportunity to see what it takes to run a million dollar store from a Kroger manager. This experience provided me insights into all aspects of business as well as how to operate a store during the holiday seasons and a pandemic. Whenever you go to a grocery store you probably are not thinking about all the steps it took for you to receive the products you are. You pick up the apples, eggs, milk, etc. and put it into your cart without second thought. However, in this externship I was able to see a grocery store in a completely different way. Each grocery store has a team of employees that make everything work for you to be able to have fresh food and goods at your fingertips. Store Managers are key players in their role to cast vision for their team and store. The impact of Covid was evident as suppliers were not able to meet demand, yet as a store manager you have to continue to work with what you have and provide for customers in different ways. Working in this fast-paced, think on your feet environment was an experience like no other.
